A journey rooted in

Self-Work*, Seva, and Sadhana.

 Our Story

Self-Work Festival is an initiative of Touching Lives Welfare Trust.

Touching Lives was born in 2003 with a foundational value: it is our need to serve rather than saying we serve the needy. This intention arose from the understanding that social consciousness and spiritual consciousness are deeply connected. To keep this connection alive, inner journeys became essential. Thus, Self Work, Seva, and Sadhana formed the founding mantras of the organisation.

Our work has focused on the learning and healing journeys of children, communities, women, teams, mentors, and all those involved. Learning and healing are interconnected and eternal aspects of life, present both formally and informally in our lives.

With programs under Education, Mental Health, and Art, the culture of Touching Lives has remained rooted in deeper self work. In 2009, we developed the Self Work Approach, a practical philosophy that guides how we live and lead our lives. It is rooted in the belief that no matter what, there is always a divine, cosmic, practical possibility to work on oneself.

This approach draws from the 'guided channeling' of our founder Sonia Mackwani and blending psychotherapy, alternative healing modalities, spiritual schools of knowledge, philosophy, metaphysics, cosmology, energy work, expressive arts, and more. As consciousness continues to evolve, the Self-Work Approach is practiced across curriculum, culture, and personal development.

Self-Work nurtures three essential experiences. A sense of safety emerges as we heal our stories and become safe spaces for ourselves and others. From safety grows a sense of belonging, where trust deepens as we become its source. From belonging arises a sense of purpose that is honest, inclusive, expansive, and evolutionary.

With over 20 years of this inner work, Touching Lives now opens a space for changemakers to engage deeply with themselves, to heal profoundly, and to allow that healing to touch the lives of those they serve. Our work comes from a healed heart, a conscious mind, and a present body.

At Touching Lives, we hold space for two journeys: the journey of finding a master, and the journey of going deeper once the master is found.

The Foundational Values of Touching Lives
These 5 values are magical! They keep us together. Bonded. Connected with our souls, our tribes, with each other and with the universe.
Whether one is a student, a teacher, a volunteer – we all love to be a part of these Values. They help us to move ahead in our individual path and support journeys of each other.
We believe it is completely our need to serve than saying, we serve the needy.

We do not label anyone as underprivileged or destitute. The fact that everyone is born on this planet makes us all privileged.
We are not anti-anything. We only choose to create a parallel path for people to make choices for themselves.

We believe in sharing / tithing. We share our resources, wisdom, knowledge and funds with others for us to be a fellow traveler with dreams of others.

Self-Work Living -
We ask everyday - How much am I evolving, being a part of Touching Lives? How much of my soul is living its purpose each day by doing what I do? We continue to take our inward journey through various Self-work, Seva and Sadhana.
